霊気

A healing method rediscovered by a Japanese Doctor, Dr Usui, in the late 1800’s, Reiki is a relaxing treatment that promotes a feeling of wellbeing in the recipient.  Channelling the universal ki, or chi as it’s more commonly known, the healer uses their hands to treat the recipients whole body.  Clearing any blockages that exist on subtle levels like the emotions and the mind, their physical manifestations can over time be healed.

A person doesn’t have to be sick to benefit from a Reiki healing treatment, it is a wonderfully meditative and calming experience that continues to heal any blockages within emotional centres or within the mind.  The power of positivity and actively wanting to be healed is incredibly powerful and is particularly useful at helping to overcome depression, feelings of futility and being overwhelmed by life.  Accelerating the body’s self-healing abilities, the treatment helps remove toxins from the body, bringing the body into balance and supporting the immune system.

Remember how your pains were taken away by the touch of your mother when you were a child, how soothed you feel in moments of sadness when you feel the comforting grasp of a loved one?  Reiki is not religious.  Whatever your religion or belief system, at it’s core there is always the central essence of oneness and love, and that is Reiki energy.  Energy sent with the intention to comfort and heal, to restore balance and to spread love.

A standard treatment is the equivalent to 3 or 4 hours sleep and so relaxing that those being treated often fall asleep!  Working well on it’s own or in conjunction with other therapies, a recipient can feel calm and revitalised after a reiki treatment.

What to expect during a treatment:

The recipient remains fully clothed throughout the treatment, beginning the treatment by lying on their backs and turning onto lie on their stomach half way through the treatment.  The practitioner traditionally places their hands lightly on the body to channel the energy to each of the main energy centres, however if they are uncomfortable with this the healing can be performed without directly touching.

Recipients may feel a warm sensation from the practitioner’s hands onto their bodies, they may feel a tingling or pulsing feeling, or they may feel nothing at all.

Sometimes the practitioner is able to sense where the blockages in the body are, helping to guide where you can focus your self healing.
